About this calculator

Use this calculator when you crop a photo, scale a video, or pick a screen size and want the matching height.

The reduced ratio is width and height divided by their greatest common divisor (after rounding to whole numbers). 1920×1080 reduces to 16:9. Scaled height is (height / width) × target width, so 1280 wide keeps 720 high. Named ratios such as 4:3 work the same way. Units cancel; pixels, millimetres, or inches are fine as long as width and height share them. Print PPI is a conversion problem, not this tool.

Width: Current width in pixels or another length unit.

Height: Current height, same units.

Target width: New width; height follows the ratio.

Ratio width / height: Lowest whole numbers with the same proportion.

Scaled height: Height at the target width.
