About this calculator

Use this CAGR calculator to compare investments that lasted different lengths of time, or a portfolio from then to now. CAGR smooths the path; real years were bumpier.

CAGR = (end ÷ start)^(1 ÷ years) − 1, returned as a percent. Start must be positive. Use the same units for start and end (both currency, or both an index level). Years can be a decimal (2.5 is two and a half years).

Start value: Value at the beginning. Must be above zero.

End value: Value at the end of the same stretch.

Years: How many years between start and end.

CAGR (%): The constant annual growth rate as a percent.
