About this calculator

Use this calculator for Newton’s inverse-square gravity. G is 6.674×10⁻¹¹ N·m²/kg² and r is the centre-to-centre distance. The defaults sketch Earth (5.97×10²⁴ kg, radius 6371 km) pulling on 70 kg at the surface, about 686 N, the same order as mg.

Masses and distance must be greater than zero. The formula treats both bodies as point masses or uniform spheres; it is not a map of a non-spherical planet or a general-relativistic correction.

m₁ (kg): First mass. Earth is about 5.97e24 kg.

m₂ (kg): Second mass in kilograms.

Distance (m): Centre to centre, in metres. Earth’s radius is about 6.371e6 m.

Force (N): Attractive force magnitude in newtons.
