Find the fractional surface coverage from the Langmuir constant and pressure (or concentration).
| Coverage θ | – |
Use this calculator in an adsorption lab when you have K from a fit and a gas pressure (or solution concentration) and want θ.
The calculation is θ = Kp / (1 + Kp). K and p must be inverses of each other so that Kp is dimensionless. Coverage runs from 0 to 1 as p goes from 0 to infinity.
This is the single-site Langmuir isotherm. It does not include multilayer BET adsorption, a Freundlich exponent, or site heterogeneity.
K: Langmuir constant K, in 1/pressure or 1/concentration, for example 0.5 kPa⁻¹.
p or c: Pressure or concentration in the matching unit, for example 2 kPa.
Coverage θ: Fraction of surface occupied, between 0 and 1.
