About this calculator

Use this calculator when you replace an incandescent or halogen with an LED of similar brightness.

kWh saved = ((old watts − new watts) / 1000) × hours per day × days. Money saved is that kWh × price per kWh. 60 W to 8 W, 4 hours a day for 365 days at 0.25 per kWh saves about 75.92 kWh and 18.98. Negative savings mean the new lamp draws more. Lumens are not compared here.

Old watts: Power of the lamp you have.

New watts: Power of the replacement.

Hours per day: Hours it is on each day.

Price per kWh: Energy price per kilowatt-hour.

Days: How many days to total.

kWh saved: Energy not used.

Money saved: Bill reduction.
