About this calculator

Use this markup calculator when pricing a product or checking a supplier’s quote. Markup is profit over cost; margin would be the same profit over the selling price instead. They are not interchangeable.

Profit = sell − cost. Markup% = 100 × profit ÷ cost. If cost is zero, markup is reported as 0. Currency is whatever you enter for both prices; keep them in the same unit.

Cost: What it costs you to buy or make one unit.

Selling price: What the customer pays for that unit.

Profit: Selling price minus cost.

Markup (%): Profit as a percent of cost.
