Use this calculator in a crystallography lab when a plane cuts the cell edges at known fractions and you need the index triple.
The calculation takes reciprocals of the intercepts (0 means the plane is parallel to that axis), scales them to small integers, and reduces by a common factor. Type intercepts as fractions of the unit-cell edge, for example 1, 1, 0.5.
This is the standard reciprocal-intercept construction. It does not apply a lattice-centering extinction rule or convert to hexagonal four-index notation.
