Subtract what you owe from what you own for a single snapshot of net worth.
| Net worth | – |
Use this net-worth calculator for a yearly check-in, or when you are paying down debt versus building assets. Use the same valuation style for everything (today’s market prices is usual). This is a snapshot, not a credit score.
Net worth = assets − liabilities. Leave out things you do not want in the picture (a car you would never sell) if you want a more “liquid” version. Both figures are in the same currency.
Assets: Cash, investments, home value, other property, added up.
Liabilities: Mortgage remaining, cards, student loans, other debts, added up.
Net worth: Assets minus liabilities. Can be negative if debts exceed assets.
