Use this for a salt-water conversion or a fill. Volume = length × width × average depth. Salt kg = volume (m³) × 1000 × ppm ÷ 1 000 000, starting from fresh water. 8 × 4 × 1.4 m is 44.8 m³; at 3200 ppm that is about 143 kg of salt. Length, width, and depth can be metres or feet. Shock and chlorine doses follow the bottle, not this mass. A freeform pool is not a rectangle; use an average length and width.
Length / Width / Depth: Inside dimensions. Depth is the average if the floor slopes.
Salt ppm: Target salinity in mg/L (often 3000–3500 for a salt chlorinator).
m³: Pool volume in cubic metres.
Salt: Mass of salt to add from fresh water.
