Use this calculator for a point projectile launched at speed v and angle θ above the horizontal, landing at the same height, with no drag.
Range = v² sin(2θ) / g, peak height = v² sin²θ / (2g), time of flight = 2 v sinθ / g. 45° gives the longest range in this model. A slope, air resistance, or a different landing height needs another formula.
Launch speed (m/s): Muzzle or throw speed, in metres per second.
Angle (°): Elevation above the horizontal. 45° maximises range here.
g (m/s²): Gravity; usually 9.81 m/s².
Range (m): Horizontal distance to landing.
Peak height (m): Highest point of the arc.
Flight time (s): Time until it returns to the launch height.
