About this calculator

Use this calculator to place a projector from its throw ratio and the desired image width. Enter the ratio and the image width. Width can be metres (m) or feet (ft); the result is shown in the same unit.

Throw = ratio × width. Ratio 1.5 on a 2.4 m wide image wants 3.6 m. Zoom lenses have a range of ratios; use the end you care about. Offset, keystone, and ceiling mounts are extra.

Throw ratio: Throw distance divided by image width.

Width: Image width. Enter m or ft.

Throw: Lens-to-screen distance in the same unit as width.
