About this calculator

Use this calculator for a constant-deceleration stop: while you react you still cover v × t_react, then s_brake = v² / (2a).

50 km/h is about 13.9 m/s. Wet roads mean a smaller a and a longer stop. This is a kinematics sketch, not a legal stopping-distance table and not ABS or slope physics.

Speed (m/s): Speed in metres per second. 13.9 m/s is 50 km/h.

Deceleration (m/s²): How hard you slow. Dry ABS might be 7–8 m/s².

Reaction (s): Thinking time before the pedal, often about 1 s.

Reaction (m): Distance covered during reaction time.

Braking (m): Distance while decelerating.
