Use this calculator for one-dimensional motion with constant acceleration: v = u + a t and s = u t + ½ a t².
u is the start speed; a can be negative (slowing down). Time cannot be negative. This pair of equations does not need the v² = u² + 2as form. Variable acceleration needs calculus or another model.
Initial speed (m/s): Speed at t = 0, in metres per second.
Acceleration (m/s²): Constant acceleration. Negative if it slows down.
Time (s): Elapsed time in seconds, not negative.
Final speed (m/s): v = u + a t.
Displacement (m): s = u t + ½ a t².
