Use this labour-market calculator for a classroom identity or a country snapshot. Unemployed people are those without a job who are looking; people out of the labour force (students, retirees) sit in the adult total but not in the labour force. Units can be people or millions—keep all three the same.
Unemployment% = 100 × unemployed ÷ (employed + unemployed). LFPR% = 100 × (employed + unemployed) ÷ adult population. The labour force cannot be empty; adult population must be positive.
Unemployed: People without work who are in the labour force.
Employed: People with work.
Adult population: Working-age (or chosen) population used for participation.
Unemployment (%): Unemployed as a percent of the labour force.
LFPR (%): Labour-force participation rate.
