Find work W = F d along the force and average power P = W / t.
| Work (J) | – |
| Power (W) | – |
Use this calculator when force and displacement are parallel: work is force times distance, in joules, and power is that work divided by time, in watts.
A 100 N push through 5 m in 2 s is 500 J and 250 W. Time must be greater than zero. For converting watts to horsepower, use the power converter. An angle between F and d is not included (that would be F d cosθ).
Force (N): Component of force along the motion, in newtons.
Distance (m): Displacement in that direction, in metres.
Time (s): Time taken, seconds, greater than 0.
Work (J): W = F d.
Power (W): P = W / t.
