Calculate ABSI from weight, height, and waist circumference, along with BMI.
| BMI | – |
| ABSI | – |
Use this calculator to obtain A Body Shape Index (ABSI), which scales waist circumference by BMI and height. It is meant to capture waist-related risk beyond BMI. Typical values are small, around 0.08. It is not a stand-alone cardiovascular risk score.
The calculation is: BMI = weight ÷ height², then ABSI = waist_m / (BMI^(2/3) × √height_m), with waist and height in metres. Weight can be entered in kilograms (kg) or pounds (lb). Height and waist can be entered in centimetres (cm) or inches (in); the calculator converts them before the formula.
Weight: Body weight, in kg or lb.
Height: Standing height, in cm or in.
Waist: Waist circumference, in cm or in.
BMI: Body-mass index in kg/m².
ABSI: A Body Shape Index (dimensionless).
