Use this acres per hour calculator to estimate effective field capacity: how much ground a tractor and implement can cover in one hour, in hectares per hour (ha/h) and acres per hour (acres/h).
The formula is field capacity = speed × working width × field efficiency. Speed is taken in kilometres per hour and width in metres; dividing by 10 converts that product into hectares per hour. Miles per hour and feet are converted automatically before the calculation.
Working speed: The actual speed in the field, not transport or road speed. Enter it in km/h or mph.
Working width: The effective width covered in one pass, in metres or feet. Use the width that actually treats the crop or soil, not the overall machine width if they differ.
Field efficiency (%): The share of field time that is spent covering ground. Turns, filling, unloading, adjustments, overlaps, and other stops reduce this value. For many operations, 70% to 85% is a realistic range; 80% means four fifths of the time is productive coverage.
Hectares per hour: Effective coverage in ha/h.
Acres per hour: The same capacity expressed in acres per hour (international acre).
