Use this calculator to sum an APGAR already assigned in the delivery room. Each of the five signs is 0, 1, or 2. The usual times are 1 and 5 minutes. This page only adds the five numbers you enter; it does not observe the infant and is not a developmental forecast.
Heart: 0 none, 1 under 100, 2 at least 100 beats per minute.
Breathing: 0 none, 1 weak or irregular, 2 good cry.
Tone: 0 limp, 1 some flexion, 2 active motion.
Grimace: Response to stimulation, 0–2.
Colour: 0 blue or pale, 1 acrocyanosis, 2 completely pink.
APGAR: Sum of the five items (0–10).
