Estimate cubic metres and tonnes of gravel, sand, limestone, stone, or concrete for a rectangular bed.
| Volume (m³) | – |
| Tonnage | – |
Use this calculator to order bulk fill for a rectangular trench, pad, or landscape bed. Pick the material, then enter length, width, and depth.
Volume (m³) = length × width × (depth ÷ 100). Tonnes = volume × density ÷ 1000. Densities used are gravel and sand 1600 kg/m³, limestone 2550, stone 2700, concrete 2400. Length and width can be entered in metres (m) or feet (ft); depth in centimetres (cm) or inches (in).
This is a geometric fill. It does not add compaction, waste, or a swell factor, and the densities are planning figures, not weighbridge tickets.
Material: Bulk material whose typical density is used for tonnage.
Length: Long side of the bed, in m or ft.
Width: Short side, in m or ft.
Depth: Layer thickness, in cm or in.
Volume (m³): Fill volume in cubic metres.
Tonnage: Estimated mass in metric tonnes.
