Convert US butter sticks to grams and cups, and estimate the butter equivalent of a given mass of oil.

Use this calculator when a US recipe calls for sticks and you buy butter by the block, or when you want to swap oil into a cake that lists butter.
Each US stick is 113.4 g, half a cup. Cups of butter use butter’s kitchen density (about 0.911 g/ml). Oil-to-butter is a baking rule of thumb: oil is about 80% of the butter it replaces by weight, so oil mass × 1.25 is the butter equivalent. It is not a pastry-chef formula. Oil mass can be entered in grams, ounces, or pounds.
Butter sticks: How many US sticks the recipe wants. One stick is ½ cup / 113.4 g; a typical US brick is four sticks.
Oil to replace: Mass of oil you have (or want to use instead of butter). 100 g is a small bottle splash, about 110 ml.
Butter: Mass of those sticks.
Butter (cups): The same butter as US cups.
Butter equivalent of that oil: Butter mass that the entered oil would stand in for.
