Turn a count of filters into mass and cleanup hours at a stated pick-up rate.

Use this calculator after a beach or street count when you want kilograms of butts and a labour sketch.
The calculation is: kg = count × mass per butt / 1,000. Hours = count ÷ butts per hour. Mass per butt can be entered in grams (g), ounces (oz), or pounds (lb); it is converted to grams before the formula. The default 0.2 g is a typical dry filter; wet butts are heavier.
This is litter mass, not a full marine-microplastic model.
Butts: How many filters you counted (or expect).
Mass per butt: Average mass of one filter, in g, oz, or lb. 0.2 g is a dry-filter ballpark.
Butts / hour: How fast a person can pick them. 40 is a brisk street pace.
kg: Total mass of the counted butts.
Hours: Person-hours to pick that count at the entered rate.
