Estimate CO₂ from resting human respiration over a number of people and days.
| kg CO₂ | – |
Use this calculator for a room, a trip, or a classroom when you want an order-of-magnitude mass of exhaled CO₂, not a ventilation design.
The calculation is: kg = people × days × kg CO₂ per person per day. The default 0.9 kg/person/day is a resting-adult planning figure. You can enter that daily mass in kilograms (kg) or pounds (lb). Exercise, diet, and body size move it. This is metabolic CO₂, not a substitute for a building energy model.
People: How many people in the period.
Days: Length of the period.
kg CO₂ / person / day: Daily exhaled CO₂ per person, in kg or lb. 0.9 kg is a resting adult ballpark.
kg CO₂: Total exhaled mass over the period.
