About this calculator

Use this calculator to order CMU and core grout. Enter the wall area, the face area of one block, the core volume in litres per block, and the percent of cores to fill.

Blocks = wall area ÷ block face. Fill (m³) = blocks × (core litres ÷ 1000) × (fill percent ÷ 100). Wall and block face can be entered in square metres (m²) or square feet (ft²). Core volume can be entered in litres (L) or gallons (gal). Fill volume stays in cubic metres. Fill percent is 100 for fully grouted cores, less if you grout only some cells.

This does not add waste, bond beams, or rebar displacement.

Wall area: Wall face, in m² or ft².

Block face: Face area of one block, in m² or ft². A 400 × 200 mm face is 0.08 m².

Core volume: Groutable core volume per block, in L or gal.

Fill (%): Percent of cores to grout, 0–100.

Blocks: Estimated block count.

Fill (m³): Grout volume in cubic metres.
