Estimate how many gypsum boards a wall or ceiling needs from area, sheet size, and waste.
| Sheets | – |
Use this calculator to order plasterboard for a rectangular wall or ceiling. Enter the area to cover, the face area of one sheet, and a waste percent.
Sheets = (area ÷ sheet area) × (1 + waste ÷ 100). Area and sheet size can be entered in square metres (m²) or square feet (ft²). A common 1200 × 2400 mm sheet is 2.88 m².
This is a face-area takeoff. It does not count screws, joint compound, or openings you have not already subtracted.
Area: Net area to board, in m² or ft².
Sheet area: Face area of one board, in m² or ft².
Waste (%): Extra percent for cuts, often 10–15 on a small room.
Sheets: Estimated sheet count including waste.
