Use this calculator when you are comparing a trip, splitting a family booking, or checking an offset quote against a transparent method.
The calculation is: kg CO₂e = distance × passengers × kg per passenger-km × the high-altitude factor (RFI). Distance can be entered in kilometres (km) or miles (mi); it is converted to km before the formula. The default 0.115 kg per pax-km is an economy short-haul ballpark; long-haul and business class need a higher factor. RFI (often about 1.9) scales for warming at altitude, not just CO₂ from the fuel. This is not a ticket that already includes SAF.
Distance: Great-circle distance of the flight, in km or mi. A short European hop is often 800–2,000 km.
Passengers: How many people on this booking, including you. Infants who occupy a seat count as one.
kg CO₂e / pax-km: Fuel CO₂e per passenger-km. 0.115 is an economy short-haul ballpark; business class is higher.
High-altitude factor (RFI): Multiplier for warming at altitude. 1.9 is a common planning figure; 1.0 means fuel CO₂ only.
kg CO₂e: Estimated carbon for the booking.
