FAR = floor area ÷ lot area. Both areas can be entered in square metres (m²) or square feet (ft²); only the ratio matters if both use the same unit after conversion.
This is a simple ratio. It does not apply bonuses, exclusions, or a zoning definition of what counts as floor area.
Floor area: Total floor area counted toward FAR, in m² or ft².
Lot area: Site area, in m² or ft².
