Estimate glycemic load from a food’s glycemic index and the available carbohydrate in the portion.
| Glycemic load | – |
Use this calculator for GL = GI × available carbs ÷ 100. Glycemic index is relative to glucose = 100; load scales that index by the digestible carbohydrate in the serving. Common sketches treat GL under 10 as low, 11–19 as medium, and 20+ as high. Tables differ by laboratory and cooking method. This is not a full meal model.
Available carbohydrate can be entered in grams (g), ounces (oz), or pounds (lb); the calculator converts to grams before the formula.
Glycemic index: Index from a published table, typically 0–100+.
Available carbs: Digestible carbohydrate in the portion, in g, oz, or lb.
Glycemic load: Portion-scaled load.
