Estimate litres of grout from tiled area, tile size, joint width, and joint depth.
| Volume | – |
Use this calculator to order grout for a rectangular tiled field. Enter the area, tile length and width, joint width, and joint depth (usually the tile thickness).
Grout fraction of the face is 1 − (L/(L+j)) × (W/(W+j)). Volume in litres = area × fraction × depth × 1000, with depth converted from millimetres to metres. Area can be entered in square metres (m²) or square feet (ft²). Tile sizes, joint, and depth can be entered in millimetres (mm) or inches (in). Volume is shown in litres (L) or gallons (gal).
This is a geometric joint volume. It does not add waste, shrinkage, or a second bag for colour matching.
Area: Tiled area, in m² or ft².
Tile length: Face length, in mm or in.
Tile width: Face width, in mm or in.
Joint: Joint width, in mm or in.
Depth: Joint depth, in mm or in, often the tile thickness.
Volume: Grout volume in litres or gallons.
