Use this calculator for board-and-batten, cladding, or any covering sold by the metre. Enter the area, the board width, and a waste percent.
Linear metres = (area ÷ board width) × (1 + waste ÷ 100), with width converted from millimetres to metres. Area can be entered in square metres (m²) or square feet (ft²). Board width can be entered in millimetres (mm) or inches (in). Linear length is shown in metres (m) or feet (ft).
This ignores gaps; if you have a gap, use the decking calculator. It does not count battens separately.
Area: Area to cover, in m² or ft².
Board width: Face width of one board, in mm or in.
Waste (%): Extra percent for cuts.
Linear length: Total board length including waste.
