Estimate Holiday-Segar 4-2-1 maintenance fluid rate from body weight.
| ml / h | – |
| Daily volume | – |
Use this calculator for the paediatric 4-2-1 rule: 4 ml/kg/h for the first 10 kg, 2 ml/kg/h for the next 10 kg, and 1 ml/kg/h thereafter. Daily volume is that hourly rate × 24. Fever, ongoing losses, heart failure, and SIADH change the plan. This is a starting crystalloid sketch, not a NICU glucose-infusion page.
Weight can be entered in kilograms (kg) or pounds (lb); the calculator converts to kilograms before the formula. The daily volume is shown in millilitres (ml) or fluid ounces (fl oz).
