Use this calculator when you need a slice of a total: a tip, a discount amount, a tax on a list price, or any “what is P percent of V” question. It returns only that slice; it does not add or subtract it from the original value.
The calculation is: result = (percentage ÷ 100) × value. So 15% of 80 is 12. Type 15 for 15%; do not include a percent sign in the box.

Percentage: The percent you want, without a % sign (15 means 15%).
Value: The number you are taking a percent of (full price, salary, or total).
Result: The portion equal to that percent of the value.
