Use this calculator for a plug-in hybrid when you know roughly what share of the trip is on the battery versus the engine.
Electric kilometres are distance × electric share. Fuel kilometres are the rest. kWh = electric km × kWh/100 km ÷ 100. Litres = fuel km × L/100 km ÷ 100. CO₂e is kWh × grams per kWh / 1,000 plus litres × 2.31 kg/L (petrol). Distance can be entered in kilometres (km) or miles (mi). Fuel volume is shown in litres (L) or gallons (gal).
This ignores charging losses beyond the kWh/100 you type, and it is not a WLTP sticker.
Distance: Length of the trip, in km or mi.
Electric share (%): How much of the distance is driven on the battery, 0–100.
kWh / 100 km: Electricity use in charge-depleting mode.
L / 100 km: Petrol use when the engine is doing the work.
g CO₂e / kWh: Grid carbon of the electricity you charge with. 400 is a mixed-grid ballpark.
kWh: Electricity used on the electric share.
Litres: Petrol used on the engine share.
kg CO₂e: Combined tailpipe-plus-grid carbon.
