Use this calculator to lay out an access ramp. Enter the rise to climb and the slope as a percent (ADA often uses 8.33% for 1:12).
Run = rise ÷ (slope ÷ 100). Length = √(run² + rise²). Angle = arctan(slope/100). Rise can be entered in metres (m) or feet (ft). Run and length follow the same unit.
This is a geometric ramp. It does not add landings, handrails, or a code check of width.
Rise: Height to climb, in m or ft.
Slope (%): Grade as a percent. 8.33 is 1:12.
Run: Horizontal run.
Length: Slope length of the ramp.
Angle: Slope angle in degrees.
