Estimate MCV, MCH, and MCHC from haemoglobin, haematocrit, and red-cell count.
| MCV (fL) | – |
| MCH (pg) | – |
| MCHC (g/dl) | – |
Use this calculator for MCV (fL) = haematocrit% ÷ RBC × 10, MCH (pg) = haemoglobin ÷ RBC × 10, and MCHC (g/dl) = haemoglobin ÷ haematocrit% × 100. Enter haemoglobin in g/dl, haematocrit as a percent, and RBC in millions per microlitre. Mentzer (MCV/RBC) is a cousin you can do by hand from MCV. This is not a blood-film reading.
Haemoglobin: Haemoglobin, g/dl.
Haematocrit: Haematocrit percent.
RBC: Red-cell count in ×10⁶/µl.
MCV: Mean corpuscular volume, fL.
MCH: Mean corpuscular haemoglobin, pg.
MCHC: Mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration, g/dl.
