Use this self-rising flour calculator when the cake recipe wants self-rising flour and you only have plain (all-purpose) in the cupboard.
Flour mass is turned into US cups using the same packed density as the cooking conversion tool (~125 g per cup at 0.53 g/ml). Then each cup gets 1½ teaspoons of baking powder and ¼ teaspoon of salt. UK self-raising formulas differ a little. Flour can be grams, ounces, or pounds.
Flour: Plain flour you will treat as self-rising. 250 g is about two US cups, a small cake.
Baking powder (tsp): Teaspoons of baking powder to add.
