Estimate GD&T cylindrical position error from X and Y offsets, then the remaining bonus versus a diametral tolerance.
| Error Ø | – |
| Remaining | – |
Use this calculator when a CMM or a layout gives dx and dy from true position and the drawing has a position tolerance as a diameter.
Error = 2 × √(dx² + dy²), the diameter of the cylindrical zone. Remaining = tolerance − error (positive means inside the zone). Offsets and tolerance can be entered in millimetres (mm) or inches (in); error and remaining follow the same unit.
This does not apply MMC or LMC modifiers, a projected tolerance zone, or a composite frame.
Δx: Offset in X from true position, in mm or in.
Δy: Offset in Y, in mm or in.
Tolerance Ø: Position tolerance as a diameter, in mm or in, from the feature control frame.
Error Ø: Diametral position error.
Remaining: Tolerance minus error; negative means out of zone.
