The calculation is: L/day = people × litres per person per day. m³/year = L/day × 365 / 1,000. Daily use can be entered in litres (L) or gallons (gal); it is converted to litres before the formula. The daily total is shown in the same volume family. Yearly volume stays in cubic metres.
The default 150 L/person/day is a European indoor-use ballpark. Gardens, leaks, and guests move it.
