Mortality rate (%)

About this calculator

Use this animal mortality rate calculator to determine the percentage of animals that died during a specific period. It can be used for livestock, poultry, fish, or other animal populations.

The calculation divides the number of deaths by the number of animals at risk during the same period, then multiplies the result by 100. The resulting percentage shows how many animals died for every 100 animals at risk.

Deaths: The number of animals that died during the period being analyzed.

Animals at risk: The number of animals considered at risk of dying during the same period. Depending on the context, this may be the starting population or another defined population at risk.

Mortality rate: The percentage of animals at risk that died during the selected period. This calculator reports a percentage and does not by itself determine a time-standardized mortality rate.
