Use the C1V1 = C2V2 dilution equation to prepare a cell suspension at your desired concentration. Enter the starting stock concentration, target concentration, and final volume.
The required stock volume is calculated as (target concentration ÷ stock concentration) × final volume. The remaining volume is the amount of diluent to add. The stock and target concentrations must use the same unit, such as cells/mL. The final volume can be entered in mL or fl oz, and the calculated volumes are displayed using the same volume system.
Stock concentration: The concentration of cells in the starting stock solution. Use the same concentration unit that you use for the target concentration.
Desired concentration: The cell concentration you want to obtain in the final suspension. It must be lower than or equal to the stock concentration.
Final volume: The total volume of cell suspension you want to prepare. The calculator supports mL and fl oz through the global volume-unit system.
Stock volume: The amount of the original cell stock required for the preparation.
Diluent volume: The amount of diluent needed to reach the requested final volume.
Dilution factor: The ratio of stock concentration to target concentration. For example, a dilution factor of 10 means the stock is diluted 1:10.
