Use this calculator for a one-time CO₂ enrichment estimate in a sealed grow tent or room. It assumes the added gas mixes evenly through the air and does not account for leaks, plant uptake, ventilation, or the delivery rate of a cylinder or burner.
The volume of CO₂ required is room volume in cubic metres × the increase in CO₂ in parts per million (ppm) ÷ 1000. This works because 1 ppm is 1 mL of gas per cubic metre of air, so a 1 ppm rise in a 1 m³ room needs 0.001 L of CO₂. The target concentration must be higher than the starting concentration. The result is reported in litres (L).
Room volume (m³): The internal volume of the room or tent, typically length × width × height, in cubic metres.
Start (ppm): The current CO₂ concentration, in parts per million. Outdoor air is often around 400 ppm.
Target (ppm): The CO₂ concentration you want to reach, in parts per million. Many indoor grows aim for about 800–1200 ppm.
CO₂ (L): The volume of pure CO₂ to add to achieve that one-time rise, in litres.
