Use this calculator as a starting size when you are shopping for a kennel, travel crate, or airline-style crate. Height and width still depend on the breed and the crate brand; this only estimates length.
Crate length is the dog's body length from nose to the base of the tail, plus about 10 cm (about 4 in) of spare room. Enter the length in centimetres (cm) or inches (in); the calculator converts automatically and shows the crate length in the same unit.
This is a minimum indoor-crate guideline, not a guarantee of airline or manufacturer approval. Growing puppies need a larger crate as they mature.
Dog length: Nose to the base of the tail, not including the tail itself. Use cm or in.
