Calculate earned-run average per nine innings and walks plus hits per inning pitched.
| ERA | – |
| WHIP | – |
Use this calculator to turn a pitching line into ERA and WHIP. Enter earned runs, innings pitched, hits allowed, and walks allowed.
ERA = 9 × earned runs ÷ innings pitched. WHIP = (hits + walks) ÷ innings pitched. Under 4.00 ERA and under 1.30 WHIP is a solid starter sketch. Innings are treated as a decimal number: type 6.33 if you mean 6 and one third innings. Baseball box-score shorthand such as 6.1 is not converted automatically.
These are rate stats for the numbers you enter, not FIP, xERA, or a park-adjusted value. Intentional walks are not separated from other walks.
Earned runs: Runs charged as earned.
Innings: Innings pitched as a decimal. 180 is a full starter year.
Hits: Hits allowed.
Walks: Walks allowed.
ERA: Earned runs per nine innings.
WHIP: Walks plus hits per inning pitched.
