Use this calculator for a first materials number for wire, mesh, or rail around a rectangular paddock. Gates, corners, posts, labour, and waste are extra unless you have already folded them into the price per metre.
The calculation is: perimeter = 2 × (length + width), then cost = perimeter × price per metre. Length and width can be entered in metres (m) or feet (ft); both are converted to metres before the calculation. The price is always per metre of fencing, not per foot. Perimeter is shown in metres or feet to match the length unit.

Width: The adjacent side, in m or ft.
Cost per m: What the fencing costs per metre bought or installed.
Perimeter: Total fence length around the rectangle.
Cost: Perimeter times the price per metre.
