Convert a mixed number to a simplified improper fraction.
| Improper numerator | – |
| Improper denominator | – |
Use this calculator to rewrite a mixed number such as 2 3/4 as an improper fraction 11/4. The formula is sign × (|whole| × |denominator| + |numerator|) over |denominator|, then both parts are divided by their GCD. A negative whole number applies to the whole mixed value: −2 3/4 becomes −11/4, not −5/4.
The denominator cannot be 0. The fractional part is taken in absolute value when the whole is negative, matching the usual reading of a signed mixed number.
Whole: The integer part (may be negative).
Numerator: Top of the fractional part.
Denominator: Bottom of the fractional part, not 0.
Improper numerator: Numerator of the simplified improper fraction.
Improper denominator: Denominator of the simplified improper fraction.
