Vegetable Yield Calculator

Estimate total harvest mass from the number of plants and the expected yield of each plant.

Total yield

About this calculator

Use this calculator to sketch how many kilograms a patch, bed, or field might yield. Enter the number of plants and the expected harvest from each plant. For maize you can treat plants as ears and the per-plant figure as grain per ear.

The calculation is: total yield = number of plants × yield per plant. Yield per plant can be entered in kilograms (kg) or pounds (lb); the total is shown in the same mass unit. Use a realistic per-plant figure from last year's harvest or a variety sheet, not a theoretical maximum.

This is a simple product, not a crop model. It does not account for gaps, disease, weather, or harvest losses. A result such as 12.5 kg means the entered plant count times the entered mass each, nothing more.

Number of plants: How many plants you have, or ears if you are doing maize that way.

Yield per plant: Expected harvest mass of one plant (or one ear). Enter the value in kg or lb.

Total yield: Plant count times mass each, in the same unit.
